Updates

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a year since I updated this thing. So much for "pretty soon". I've been getting quite a lot of e-mails these past couple of months, though, so I've felt sorta bad about never updating the site. I was actually almost finished with this update last summer, but due to computer problems and other issues out of my control, I wasn't able to work on it for a few months, and after that I sorta lost interest. But a couple of weeks ago I decided I really ought to quit procastrinating and just get some stuff done. I have plans for some other website projects during the summer, and I really want to have this database in an at least somewhat finished state before moving on.

So in this update there's a bunch of new stuff. Most noteably, perhaps, SF3: New Generation and 2nd Impact palettes, but also stuff like SF1, Pocket Fighter, CFJ, and the missing palettes from SFZ2A a couple of you had been bugging me about. There's still a bunch of known missing stuff, though - mostly palettes exclusive to home versions of games like SFA3 and MSHvSF. I'm not really able to rip most of that stuff myself, but if someone could do it for me I'd be happy to add it to the site.

I also have a special request to anyone who can help me with it - for some reason, the NG Elena palettes that I got from ZweiFuss are all kinds of messed up (which is why they aren't on the site for now). I don't own the game so I can't check them manually, and the only reference I have to her palettes in that game are some lousy artbook scans which seem to indicate she has only two(?) different palettes. Ideally I would like someone with ArtMoney/hacking/hexedit skills to extract the palettes from the game, but screenshots or even descriptions would be better than nothing. If you think you can help, please send me an e-mail.

I just made the embarrassing discovery that I'd missed two entire sets of palettes in SFA2! While watching a combo vid the other day I couldn't help notice several palettes being used that I wasn't familiar with at all. I thought it seemed unlikely that I would simply have forgotten about so many palettes after spending so much time with this project, and indeed, those palettes were not in the database. The two mystery sets of colours are the ones used when you're playing in "Auto" mode - one each for the Punch and Kick buttons (They can be used in normal mode in the console versions, however). As I never do so myself, nor have access to any console versions, it's no wonder I wasn't familiar with them. Still, running a site like this, I should know about this sort of thing, shouldn't I? Heh. Anyway, they've all been added to the site now, so it's all good. :)

Also, with the newfound possibilities of PlayStation 2 emulation, I now have the ability to rip sprites and palettes from Capcom Fighting Jam (aka Capcom Fighting Evolution in the US), and as such all relevant stuff from that game will be added to the site pretty soon.

While on the subject of adding more games to the database, thanks to the hard work of Joram "Zweifuss" Nowak, I now have all palettes from Street Fighter III: New Generation and Second Impact! I hadn't noticed until pretty recently, but he's had them on his site for quite a while now (although in Paint Shop Pro .PAL format - in other words not very accessible), and once I've done some more organizing (finding out which palette corresponds to which button, among other things), I will add them to the database.

... And I really should've gotten around to making those banners and whatever by now, shouldn't I? >_<

Not a big update, but I finally added Dan's CvS2 palettes. Interesting note - for some reason, Dan's sprites are drawn in a unique, somewhat bizarre resolution. His sprites are the only ones like this, and I have no idea why they look the way they do. But anyway, the sprites might look a little mangled, but the palettes look good, and that's what's important, right? :)

I haven't really been keeping track of updates of this page, but I figured I ought to start... Better late than never, right? It helps you see what's new on the site, and it helps me remember what stupid promises I make about additions. :P

This is the first update in quite a while... I removed the entry for Dan in CvS (Pro), since I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to ripping those sprites/palettes (if it's even possible). If anyone could and would do it for me I'd gladly add them to the site, though. I've had Dan's CvS2 palettes ripped and ready to go for some time, but I held off putting them up until I had his CvSP ones done (to help with naming conventions for files and such), but due to the fact that they're on a different hard drive (currently lying on my desk) I can't add them at the moment. I'll get around to it eventually.

This update doesn't consist solely of reductions though - I'm finally adding the missing 3rd Strike palettes, meaning the site is very close to reaching version 1.0, being launch (and pimp) worthy, and all that. I'll be sure to make some banners and stuff to mark the occasion, in case anyone wants to link here or anything. I've also fixed various small things like broken images and incorrect tables.
